Alice Ball

Alice Ball is a perfect example of how hard work and intelligence can help a person triumph over prejudice. She was writing at the beginning of the twentieth-century and her writing introduced many new concepts in treating diseases which form the basics of modern medicine and offering employment to the colored people in science.

He immediately set himself the task to break the barriers in education and in science. Alice Ball was born in a time when Women and blacks did not have access to good growth opportunities, However, due to her hard work and Curiosity she went to great heights. She was the first woman and African American to graduate with a master’s degree in the University of Hawaii, something that showed the rigor and the intelligence of the lady.






By far, the most groundbreaking of Ball’s scientific discovery is what later came to be known as the Ball method; this helped in the alteration of the treatment of leprosy through the making of chaulmoogra oil more palatable for the patients. Her nontraditional work exhibit proficient and humane practice in the capacity of chemist.



Nevertheless, the discovery of the Black Soap by Alice Ball cannot be forgotten for there is true acknowledgement of her work by her male counterparts. Unfortunately, she died at the age of 24, and despite her short life she remained useful to the medical community after her death.






Alice Ball is undoubtedly up for the fight; her story is all about endurance. She also looked for ways to improve medical chemistry and contributed immensely to laying the foundation for other scientists most of whom are from the minority. Everything she did for active introduction of humanitarian idea and fight for girls’ equality, she left as a basis that can help people to continue to struggle for enlightenment and knowledge.





She died at the youthful age of thirty-eight, but she left a light shining on the society indicating direction on how the society could be enhanced through science and technology.
